Murray Wood Certified Pedorthist, CPED(C)

I am a Pedorthist and former owner and operator of Thomas Wood Pedorthic Clinic in Orillia, Ontario. In recent years, I decided to move out West and join Marie Catherine at The Sole Mate and eventually join our team at Creekside.

I bring with me over 45 years of experience and expertise in the foot and footwear industry. I began my career in the family specialty orthopedic footwear business, where I developed a strong foundation of knowledge of feet and footwear. This, coupled with my endless supply of energy and passion for pedorthic work, has propelled me into some impressive roles in the pedorthic world. I have helped to create the Canadian Prescription Footwear Association and was instrumental in developing the educational and ethical standards of today as the first president of the Pedorthic Association of Canada.

My deep appreciation for health and understanding of athleticism and biomechanics has aided me in becoming a strong referral choice for family physicians, physiotherapists, chiropractors, and registered massage therapists here in the Vernon area. My background in footwear and design keeps me strong in my skills at shoe modifications, and along with that I do all my own custom orthotics and footbeds on site here at Creekside. Throughout this past number of years, I have been working hard at understanding more about the foot and looking beyond the orthotic for the catch-all for foot health.

Can we not look at the function and help by integrating mobility, stretching, and strengthening into the daily routine of good foot health? After all, our feet are our foundation, and we should be doing so much to improve strength, balance, and propulsion to them. This functional approach to foot heath is amazing, and I am excited to share with you these sound methods to help you on your path to healthy, strong feet. 

When you don’t find me here at the clinic, you just might see me cycling or paddling in my summer seasonal months; in the winter months, you’ll likely find me teaching Nordic skiing or just sliding through the trails at Sovereign and Silver Star.

I bring enthusiasm and knowledge to my practice each day, and I am so proud to be a member of the collaborative Creekside Team.
